Vikram Bhatt reveals why he kept his marriage to Shwetambari Soni a secret for a year
Yesterday, ETimes was the first to reveal that Vikram Bhatt had secretly married Shwetambari Soni in a private ceremony held during the confinement with only their families present.
Now, in an interview with a news portal, Vikram spoke about his secret wedding. He revealed that they were married in a private ceremony at his home in the presence of his three sisters and their family. The director also revealed that they had initially planned a big wedding. However, the pandemic played a killjoy.
Speaking of when they decided to take the plunge, Vikram revealed that they dated for three years after meeting for the first time in 2016. After that, they felt they were ready to take their relationship to the next level. The filmmaker's father was hospitalized and required angioplasty. Shwetambari realized that if something ever happened to any of them, they wouldn't be able to take the call unless they had legal rights.
Despite getting married, the couple kept their relationship a secret for over a year as they waited for their children to approve. While Vikram has a daughter from his previous marriage, Shwetambari has two sons. Vikram also went on to say that at the age of 52, it is not a crazy love story that they have, but a "happy and content relationship".
Digging deeper into Shwetambari, Vikram said that what he loves about her is the fact that she's smart and more outspoken than he is. Since she doesn't belong in the entertainment world, he loves to go home to someone who has been to a completely different world. The director added that her ideas bounce back because she is clever with stories. According to him, Shwetambari is honest with her comments, especially if the story is "shit".
