Kunal Kapoor opens up on his struggles when he entered showbiz ; says he was dissuaded from being an actor as it was difficult for outsiders to breakthrough
With content-rich and commercial films, Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor has come a long way. The actor has made a name for himself in the industry, but years ago, he reveals that he actually had a hard time staying in the industry. The actor confesses that being an actor was hard, especially when you are an "outsider".
Speaking to a news portal, the actor shared that he was discouraged from entering show business just before his 2004 big-screen debut with "Meenaxi-A Tale of Three Cities." The 44-year-old actor revealed that when he was starting out, people told him that it was difficult for outsiders to move forward.
But things changed for a time when Rang De Basanti pitched. The actor remembers being the next big thing with the release. However, the filmmakers soon said, "It's gone, it's over."
Seeing how things have changed, the actor shared how many filmmakers call him today and say "You are such an interesting actor, we would like to do more with you." That is a complete cycle that you go through as an actor ”. Kunal also states that the industry is unstable and emphasizes that perceptions change quite quickly here.
Speaking more about the internal-external debate with the news portal, the "Dear Zindagi" actor shares that being a stranger is less challenging in movies than before. “The only option you had was that if you couldn't be the lead, you graduated as a supporting actor and then as a villain. As an outsider, it's not like you have a support system of friends and family who will do anything to boost your career. That is not going to happen, "he says.
